Lake Velence

The Velence Lake is the third largest natural lake in Hungary. Its length is 10.8 km, its average width of 2.3 km. Its area covers 26 km². Approximately 40 percent of the lake is covered with reeds, the western part is a protected nature bird sanctuary, which can only be entered with permission.

The waterways of the reeds, its streets and clearings can easily be followed on the tourist map. The lake is rich in fish, there are numerous docks for fishing boats and on the edge of the reeds are many fishing piers to find.

On the lake Velence small sailing ships with sword and operated by hand boats may operate, but boats with internal combustion engines are not allowed.
