Göcsej Village Museum

Göcsej Village Museum

The first open-air ethnographical museum of the country was opened to the public in the town in 1968. The group of 40 buildings, transported to the spot from 22 settlements of the Zala region, got place around the backwater of River Zala, which cuts across the town. The builders have reconstructed a "Göcsej" village of the last century on the land of the outdoor museum, where the visitors can get acquainted with the things of daily use of the region, too. The exhibition entitled "Traditional Costumes of Carpathian Basin on Dolls" is on the first floor of the Museums's administrative building.
